Lead guide and owner Cory holding a small mirror carp.

Hey y'all, I'm Cory Sorel, owner and lead guide at Sorel Fly. I've been fly fishing in Central Texas for over a decade now. I've caught just about everything you can in this huge state, and fell in love with carp about 8 years ago. I hope I'll get to share my love of Texas and it's fishing with you.

I started guiding in 2019, excited about sharing my passion for fishing and the outdoors with as many people as I could. Focusing on wade fishing for common carp brings a unique and exciting way to experience the beautiful Texas Hill country, and it's the perfect challenge for any angler looking to push their skills.

Why carp?

They're tough, and I love a challenge.

Common carp are hard fighting fish that are not simple to land, let alone get to eat. Even small fish will regularaly hit your backing. It requires stealth, accuracy and a little luck, especially because it's all sight-fishing. It's also fun to love the things a lot of folks mindlessly hate, and I do believe they're gorgeous fish.

Mission Statement

I'm committed to providing an exciting, educational experience to my clients and passing along my focus on conscious stewardship and deep appreciation for the outdoors. Expansive public access and informed management are keystones of being able to enjoy our natural spaces for generations to come.

I believe it's deeply important to be creating spaces that all people feel welcome. The outdoors belongs to us all, and diversity only strengthens our communities. I will always strive to make the fishing community as inclusive as possible.
